Role Overview

We are seeking an Associate Lead – QA Automation for a 1-year contract to drive quality engineering practices across complex product workflows. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining functional testing, test automation, API and data validation, integration/SIT testing, CI/CD quality gates, and continuous improvement of QA practices.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both manual and automated testing, excellent programming and SQL skills, and the ability to work closely with developers, product teams, and QA engineers across multiple squads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute risk-based test scenarios, boundary-value matrices, negative scenarios, and edge-case test suites for complex product workflows.

  • Lead and perform hands-on functional, exploratory, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing before features are moved into automation.

  • Analyze defects, perform root-cause analysis (RCA), and actively participate in or drive defect triage with developers and other stakeholders.

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI automation frameworks and test suites using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.

  • Develop and maintain API automation suites for REST/GraphQL services using C#/.NET, Java, or TypeScript/JavaScript.

  • Identify critical manual regression scenarios and convert them into reliable automated regression suites.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and establish automated quality gates using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.

  • Execute baseline performance and load testing using tools such as k6 or JMeter.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools such as Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate test design, automation development, and test-data generation.

  • Lead validation of reporting modules, dashboards, calculations, and data pipelines.

  • Write complex SQL queries to validate backend data integrity against frontend reports and PDF, CSV, and Excel outputs.

  • Plan and execute cross-squad System Integration Testing (SIT) across shared interfaces, APIs, data flows, and service dependencies.

  • Review test plans, automation frameworks, test scripts, and automation pull requests, promoting clean code and shift-left quality practices.

  • Provide technical guidance to QA engineers on automation design, debugging, test strategy, and quality engineering practices.

  • Track and communicate key quality metrics including Defect Escape Rate, Automation Pass Rate, Automation Coverage, and SIT Cycle Time.

  • Continuously improve automation frameworks, testing processes, CI/CD integration, and overall Quality Engineering maturity.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance / Software Testing, with strong hands-on experience across manual testing and test automation.

  • Experience in a senior QA automation, SDET, or Quality Engineering role, with exposure to technical leadership.

  • Strong programming experience in C#/.NET or Java, with TypeScript/JavaScript experience.

  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.

  • Strong experience in REST/GraphQL API testing and automation.

  • Strong SQL and data-testing skills.

  • Practical experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools.

  • Experience with Git, code reviews, and automation pull requests.

  • Experience with Jira, Xray, Zephyr, or TestRail.

  • Hands-on experience executing System Integration Testing (SIT) across multiple squads and services.

  • Experience with defect management, root-cause analysis, and defect triage.

  • Working knowledge of k6 or JMeter for performance and load testing.

  • Experience validating reports, dashboards, data pipelines, and file-based exports.

  • Strong understanding of risk-based testing, shift-left quality, automation best practices, and CI/CD quality engineering.

  • Experience with AI-assisted testing/development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude is desirable.

  • Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, collaboration, and technical leadership skills.
