Senior DevOps Engineer – Azure / Cloud

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer – Azure / Cloud to join our DevOps team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and cloud automation.You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable, scalable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure and deployment processes. The role will also involve troubleshooting production environments, improving DevOps practices, and providing technical guidance to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and other approved DevOps tools.
  • Build and maintain automated deployment processes across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Configure and manage supporting tools, including source control systems, artifact repositories, build tools, and code-quality inspection tools.
  • Develop automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Azure services, including:
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Azure Container Apps
    • Azure Functions
    • Other relevant Azure cloud services
  • Implement and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Implement GitOps practices using ArgoCD and manage application packages using Helm.
  • Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Azure Bicep.
  • Design and implement Azure Landing Zone architecture in line with cloud governance, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure production environments maintain high levels of availability, performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, applications, and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure Monitor, Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues across infrastructure, application deployment, networking, and CI/CD processes.
  • Provide technical support for application deployments and production environments.
  • Follow DevOps standards, security practices, processes, and procedures established by the organization.
  • Work with open-source technologies and evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve DevOps processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and continuously improve deployment and infrastructure management.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to junior DevOps team members.
  • Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, QA, Architecture, Security, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Promptly identify and escalate critical issues to the Head of DevOps when required.
  • Stay up to date with emerging cloud and DevOps technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using:
    • Azure DevOps
    • GitHub Actions
    • Other CI/CD tools
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, particularly:
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Azure Container Apps
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure infrastructure and cloud services
  • Strong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps, particularly ArgoCD.
  • Experience with Helm and Kubernetes package management.
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Azure Bicep.
  • Good understanding of cloud networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Monitor, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance best practices.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with microservices architectures.
  • Experience designing or implementing Azure Landing Zones.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices and Azure governance.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience working with open-source technologies.
  • Azure, AWS, or other recognized cloud certifications would be an advantage.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
